I think every family should adopt that plan, but you can bet people will say "they don't have time." It's so much better than the alternatives though.

I've scaled down my Christmas shopping and decorating over the years. We also entertain on a much small scale and invite only those people we want to be around! I find that my mood and anticipation for Christmas is much better than those of my friends and acquaintances because I refuse to get caught up in the 'madness.'

This year I'm surprising some ungratefuly, greedy, selfish relatives with interesting Christmas 'presents.' They're all getting cards showing where I made donations in their names to organisations like Diabetes foundation, Arthritis foundation and Heart Research. They'll be tickled pink...NOT
