cheap rates due to Wilma?
We just returned from a week at Copacabana and we are ready to start planning for next year's trip! This was our first trip to the area, and it seems like the rate I got was a pretty good deal--$1,300 for 4 of us/7 nights. I'm wondering if this rate is more reflective of Wilma or if rates like this are typical this time of year (early December). We had our choice of beach palapas every day, and I don't think I'd consider going any other time.
When I look up the same week next year, it shows a rate that is twice that, and I'm just wondering if this was a one-time deal that was an incentive to get people to travel post-Wilma, or if the specials begin to appear closer to the travel date. |

I booked our 12/05 hotel through cancun.com. I do think it was a special deal related to Wilma, because nothing I have found since remotely compares. Since I posted my question, I've done months of research and ended up booking our 12/06 trip to Club Maeva Tulum through Funjet. They had the best price. If airfares had been more reasonable, I would have booked that separately and done the hotel through Locogringo. They always have good rates. Since we decided to do the package deal, I chose Shammy as our TA and she's been very helpful.

Funny real funny
they raise the prices in the Netherlands after Wilma for a stay in Playa. We have to pay $ 500 more than last year. More funny (but not) all the trips were gone at the beginning of March just because of the bird flu in Turkey Compare to most of you we from Europe pay more. And they raise the prices of plane fuell every day. But yes there are still other way's to make a trip to our great little heaven. ![]() |
