My recollection from a few years ago when I went with our dive shop is no way you'd walk it. Also it was very rough, we were in a pick up. A taxi (car) may not be interested, but then the road condition probably changes season to season, year to year. Otherwise, my experience taxis are glad to wait 2hrs if I cab from Cancun or Playa to Puerto Morelos & the botanical garden there.
