He's a real crook by all acounts, and half of Mexico is going nuts about it.
He won by giving out food packages in exchange for votes (the evidence is plastered all around youtube, I guess he didn't think about folk with cameraphones), and manipulating the media in his favour. When he was literally chased out of university by angry students, the main papers said the visit was a huge success.
If anyone's interested in his past, google "Atenco" and there are lots of sites that document what happened there.
I don't think it will mean much for all the foreigners living in Mexico, but it's sad for the Mexicans.
