Anyone been to Catalonia Riveria Maya?

Has anyone been to the Catalonia Riviera Maya? I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts on this resort. How is the resort, restaurants and the beach? Is the water nice and blue? Is it Rocky? How is it in comparrison to Cancun/Playa Del Carmen beaches? We have a budget to spend for our wedding for 7 nights AI and the travel agent said this resort and the Club Maeva was in our price range.

I'd love to know if anyone has any pictures or have seen a wedding performed at this resort?

Thank you so much,
Kristine

Are there any non rocky areas on the Catalonia beach? Or is it all rocks. I like to swim in the water, and im hoping that there is some areas without rocks. Does anyone have any beach pics?

Sandy beach? Tick.
Blue water? No tick, at least close to the shore; it is actually of a beautiful turquoise.
Similar to other beaches along the coast? Tick.
Swiming possible? Double tick, as it is also highly recommended.

Enjoy yourselves.

I stayed at the Catalonia last February and a wedding took place while we were there. The wedding took place on the point separating the lagoon and ocean areas. Actually was kind of neat. The resort is very nice. Rooms pretty nice. Restaurants were pretty good. Snack bar and ala carte's were all very good with the Italian restaurant the best. Water wasn't quite as blue as Tulum area. Pretty but not that outstanding color you are talking about. The Catalonia has both an ocean and a lagoon front. The lagoon has a sandy bottom that is great for swimming. (and kayaking). The beach itself is not rocky but when you enter the ocean it can be rocky in many areas. Beach is better for laying out on rather than swimming in ocean. The reason for rockiness is that there is a reef just off shore of the Catalonia which makes for decent snorkeling. Bars were great. Close to Puerto Aventuras. It was a great value for money spent and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Pools and grounds were immaculate. Resort rates itself as a 4-star and it is all of that. As you can see, I liked it alot.

When are you going? We will be at that resort the 28th of April thru May 5. CANNOT WAIT. This is my third year (not at the same resort) in a row and it is becoming addictive.
