Hi new to Mexico staying at the Valentin Imperial Maya

Hi! My husband and I are making our first trip to mexico for our 11yr wedding anniversary and are staying at the "all inclusive resort" Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya.

We are staying for a week and are very excited even though I heard it is raining and storming there a lot right now Do they really close the beach?? Im so looking forward to the beautiful beach!?!? How is the water there right now? Is it calm and blue and beautiful or rough and crazy?

We are planning to do a couple of excursions: Chichen Itza, and Tulum and Xel ha although we haven't booked anything yet. Does anyone know if it is better to book online? or can we just do that when we get there? We kinda like to take things day by day. Any suggestions on that would be great as well as info on those places and good touring companies to use.

Also what is the deal with this bio degradable sun block and mosquito repellent required? I cant find it anywhere out here (in california) and I have heard i can order it online but we are leaving in 4 days! I also heard we can get it there for a decent price at wal mart? or pharmacy in downtown but how far is that from our resort? How much is a cab ride downtown? I saw the cab fares sheet but dont know what zone our hotel is in vs downtown?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We also thought about doing one of the dinner cruises or the submarine tour and wave runner jet ski stuff but not sure anyone do these? what did you like or dislike? We do want time to relax too.

Thanks for any and all of your info.
Anxious and excited!
