Occidental Allegro in PDC

Ok...this is my first time here so I am downloading all information that I have in my head on the Allegro Resort. My Fiancé, brother and I went to visit there November 3-7. We were a little uneasy about what to expect since we had stayed at the Iberostar 2 years ago and they were fantastic.
The bus they picked us up in from the airport was very old and ugly. I went to sit down in one of the seats and discover that the seat was wet. I only hoped that it was just water. The driver drove entirely way too slow and it took us an hour to get from the airport to the hotel. Once we were there we decided to go ahead and check in. At this time it was 11:30 in the morning and we discovered that check in wasn't until 3:00 p.m. They didn't have our rooms ready at all and so we thought we would make the best of the situation. While we were waiting on our rooms I got my hair braided as I always do and the guys went to the beach. Mean while I am having to lug around all the carry on backpacks. (Very heavy and way to many hills) Once we were finished doing this it was around 2:00 p.m. There is a small shopping center that is only about a 4-minute walk called Plaza Playacar. We discovered this last time and it is really ok if you want a short something to do.
We have found in the two-year span that the town has become considerably more commercialized and very unwilling to bargain. So note to everyone..You can try but more unlikely to get what you want. We have also discovered that they are way over priced compared to the downtown area.
However, we decided to head back to the resort at around 3:00 and the front desk told us that our rooms were still not ready. They ended up not being ready until around 4:30 p.m. The front desk also tried telling us that we only had one meal ticket for one of the two five star (supposedly) eating. We told them that we were not told that at all and we wanted unlimited the entire stay. They gave in and let us have it. So if your hotel says that argue with them and they'll give in.
After we got to our rooms we found that they had thatch roofing, which was really neat and gave a more authentic feel. However, as the night wore on and we headed for bed we found that you can see the sun shinning through right about your closet. This told us that if it rained our clothes were going to get soaked. We also could hear everything EVERYTHING our neighbor's were doing. Yes, that's right shaggy! :o
We couldn't get the toilet's to flush at all! They wanted us to use the trashcan but I as many American's find this really sick. They kept telling us that it was an island. I told them they needed more geographical learning because Cozmel could use that excuse but they couldn't.
We found the buffet to be really simple and not all that tasty. If you want a great buffet head to Iberostar instead. The beach though was great! And since that is what we were really down there for we were able to stand it.
They were constantly doing construction all through the night and made it hard to sleep. We spoke to one of the bartenders and found that he worked from 5 AM to 1AM and never slept 7 days a week. We found this really sad!
In my opinion I wouldn't stay at Allegro again. It is great if you are short on money and need a quick escape. If you don't care about luxury and your only there for the beach. I found the staff except for the entertainment staffers and bartender's extremely rude. But, all in all.... I had a great time! Who couldn't your in MEXICO!!!!
