Getting about, possibly by bus

We are probably wanting to do a bit of exploring (leaving the resort!!) and are thinking of heading down to Tulum to see the ruins & things like that, not sure if we'll make it up to chichen itza, but we'd like to see some "culture" while we're down.

I speak schoolboy Spanish and am reasonably confident of not getting us robbed as soon as we leave the resort, how easy is it getting from PDC to Tulum & is it recommended/safe???

Cheers,

Cheers,
If you want to see the Tulum ruins, and then get a few extra perks thrown in like visits to some cenotes for snorkeling and a wonderful lunch served on the beach - I HIGHLY suggest you look into booking the Tulum and Beyond Tour. It was without a doubt, the best way to get an informative guided tour of the ruins. Transportation provided, no hassles, great people, small and personalized - and you don't have to worry about taking a bus or hiring a guide when you get there.

Click HERE for more info and HERE for a calendar of available dates.

There are also tours to Chichen Itza and Coba so if you are interested in more than one tour, click HERE for info about all the tours.

when i went to tulum (few years ago) I went to the bus station and took the public bus. it was very cheap and we did not have to do something on time (be back at the tour bus on a special time and so on) it was really nice and easy. We had no problems, the bus driver spoke a bit english and with your schoolboy spanish i am sure you will do fine. if there are any problems he will definetly understand "tulum" and "ruins". if not,i would take one of those flyers for tulum-tours and just point on it.
