My wife and I will be visiting PDC for the first time this coming Jan or Feb. In fact, it's our first trip ever outside the states. We're trying to decide between the Riu Palace and Iberostar Tucan. Any suggestions/opinions out there? Also looking for a good dive operator for some scuba dives either in PDC or Cozumel. Thanks.

I used to be a travel agent and therefore got to stay at many nice resorts. I stayed with my husband at the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal as well as the Iberostar Cozumel and both where great. If you stay at the Tucan you can get a day pass to the IB*Cozumel which is directly across from Palancar Reef. We went diving with Dressel Divers which is the on site dive shop and where very happy with them. Food, drinks and Room where very good and the gardens with waterfall and pools where fantastic. Make sure you also visit Playa del Carmen and go on excursions so you see more than just the resort. Mexico is a wonderful country, with the nicest people and interesting culture. You are in for a real treat. The beaches and ocean there are true paradise.

Hi BarbC! Your kid and fiance are very lucky.
Dressel was a great operation and everyone that worked there was super nice and professional. And I have to add a group of very handsome people. We are new to diving and they made us feel comfortable and we had the best time. We even had wild Dolphins circle us on our first ever dive. I had no fear I kept hearing the Dolphin noises and just wanted to be part of their world. It was the best? |

Hi, I have stayed in both the Riu Tequila and the Palace. Both are excellent with the Palace a notch above all else!
Both visits I dived with Scuba Caribe, the on site dive operators. They have to perform to a high standard because of the obligation to this superb hotel chain. Being a diver from the UK I can Highly recommened Scuba Caribe, though I would recommend some diving to be undertaken on Cozumel, also Cenotes are well worth the experience. Cheers, Dennis. |
