reef playacar

Hi all!
Going tot PDC next saturday and looking forward to it ofcourse! We're staying at the Reef Playacar of which we heard good and bad things but we think that we will be allright. Have not had holiday for 3 years now so we want to relax and have a good time. Can anyone tell us from experience something about the resort since the reviews I read here were all from a long time ago.

Tks in advance!

Hi,
We'll be checking in to the Reef in April for our 5th year in a row..We love this place. It's smaller than most, but beautiful. The grounds are jungle-like, although I hope not too much damage was done by Wilma. The rooms are clean and large. I've also read some pretty bad reviews, but have personally never had a bit of problem, only good experiences. The staff is friendly and we've always been treated with courtesy. The service is good and although tipping isn't necessary, we find that it makes us feel better to give some extra for all the hard work these folks do. They work their cans off..The entertainment is fun for your first time, but a little cheesy...They really try to get the guests involved. Not a rowdy nightlife if that's what you're looking for--go into town for that. The food is ok..hubby is a meat and potatos guy and he always finds something to eat..The Italian restaurant is good. It's a nice change to be served. The snack bar by the pool is good-serving American goodies-burgers, pizza etc.
We like the fact that it is smaller, so you don't have to walk very far for anything. The drinks were better last year--we found that out on our first day Dinner was a buzzed experience--so go slow..
Have a great time-relax and say hi to Raphael at the front desk for us.

Hi Cathy and Bill!
Thanks very much for your reply! We do like the fact that the resort is smaller than most. We want to relax and are not looking for a rowdy nightlife. Maybe for a few nights but then we can always go to PDC. We heard that besides the Italian restaurant they now have another restaurant with Mexican food.
We will say hi for you to Raphael and we are sure we will enjoy our vacation!

There is a different theme every night in the theater. Carribean, Mexican, International etc. Very nice. Outside, at the bar they have a small band playing international music every night.

Nettie.

(But Playa del Carmen is almost next door and there you will have all the entertainment you want because after 23.00 it is very quite in the resort.)
