RIU Palace-What do people think abut honeymooning there?

My fiance and I are getting married in June. We've never been to PDC but have heard from a lot of people our age that it is a blast. My travel agent recommended the Riu Palace and the package he has put together is EXTREMELY reasonable :P
Anybody have any comments? Any horrible experiences I should know about?
I should mention that we are pretty laid back people ages 27 & 30. looking to just hang out, meet new people-doesn't matter what age, race etc....

An All-Inclusive vacation has its pros and cons. If you haven't been to one before, check out our article about All-Inclusives to see what you can expect. The biggest downside, in my opinion, is that you miss out on the genuine Mexican experience, as an AI tends to be somewhat generic. And they're BIG - with hundreds of rooms you can't expect the same personal connection and service as you would have in a smaller hotel in Playa del Carmen.

RIU

I just got back form the PDC and it was great. I stayed next door to the RIU at the Iberstar. It was GREAT, and form all I heard the RIU is a little fancier, a little more posh, more refined.

For my money the inclusive was good deal. yes, you do not get the autentic mexican experience, but you do get the mexican hospiality. the people were great and the ocen is clean and warm.

Laura, we have done both the all-inclusive and the non all inclusive. We recommend the all inclusive. We will be staying 10 days this Feb '03 at the RIU Palace. I've never been there but have heard nothing but fabulous reviews about it. Some of my co workers who have been going to Mexico for years have said by far the RIU Palace is the best place they have ever stayed, I say go for it! I don't think you'll be disappointed. ---------kmasp430 (Minnesota)
