He had no clue as to why he was rejected. I started laughing because there he was in his costume just standing there with that look on his face. |

And how about those twin boys?
I think the first set was more dynamic, but the 16-year-olds had a lot of poise for kids that age. And their singing didn't feel completely rehearsed. I couldn't believe there weren't more good contestants from Chi-town. Where were all the blues singers, for chrissakes? |

The look on SIMON'S face when Paula said yes to "crazy Dave" or whatever they were calling him was great! He was stunned... and then he basically asked "Have you two lost your minds?"
They shouldn't do that, in my opinion... it gives kids like that false hope and there were a couple who were more talented that they DIDN'T let through. I can deal with most of Simon's comments regarding singing ability, but I hate when he makes comments about people's looks, like being overweight. (i.e. "Forget her being like Frenchy, she was France" and "Are we going to have a bigger stage this year?") I think my favorite was the "police officer" who kept singing the same two lines of "I Shot The Sheriff" over and over and over and over and...... |

I missed the car singing, just saw the audition. I love the crooners, as apparently does Simon... problem is, they get into the "real deal" of the show and get criticized for too much crooning. If you want a Pop star, then push the Pop singers... don't tell a guy you like his unique crooning style and then make critical comments weeks later about him being a crooner. Duh.

The kid sounded too much like Frankie -- honestly, I don't think he deserved to move on. If I had been a judge, I would have made him sing the song in his own voice -- let's see if he had learned anything about phrasing and delivery.
I did like that other 17 year old kid who also went the croon route. Paula had mighty hungry eyes watching him. |

What a crazy group out of Denver. That 16 year old girl was very good. That cowboy kid's voice was a surprise. It wasn't great compared to some (I agreed with him getting voice lessons to bring out his potential) but the way the voice sounded was surprising coming out of little Opie's body. "I only sung to turkeys before."
