El Dorado Royale (EDR) bound

My wife and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this February and our travel agent booked us at the EDR in a junior <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />oceanside suite. We were in Mazatlan Mexico last year and wanted to visit another part of Mexico, specifically the Caribbean. Mazatlan was nice although the time share deal got real bad, real fast. I think that is anywhere though. I have fully checked this web site out and find it very usefull although up-to date info on the EDR is scarce. Our goals are simple; lie on beach, drink, snorkel (me), shop (her), walk, explore, and have fun. So what do I want from this forum? Up to date info on the EDR, and anything else you folks may want to add to make us anticipate this trip even more

The goals you want will be found at EDR. Go lie on the vast beach it's massive. Stretches for a mile or more. Go snorkelling near the old pier or in the salt water pool. As many bars as you would want plus a posh & fancy martini bar. This was our stop every evening before meals. Have you visited the Karisma site for more info on their hotels.

We are returning for our 3rd straight year in February.
For shopping catch the daily free shuttle into Playa del Carmen. The evenings in playa are fabulous. You can walk the beach for mile or more in each direction it is so uninhabited near EDR. You can take a bike ride thru the resort. It's about a 20 to 25 minute ride to Playa or about $16 or $18 each way for a taxi.
The food is magificent no buffets, all sit down al a carte. 5 & 6 course meals. and don't be afraid to ask for extra if you want, but i doubt you will need it.

We stayed at EDR in 2003 & 2004, we loved it and I am sure you will too.

We overlap by a few days, we arrive Feb 23rd for 10 days. Maybe we'll run into each other. We are 6 Canadians who love the Kampai and Martini bar. If you e-mail
Samantha @ EDR, sfrachey@eldorado-resort dot com dot mx
she will let you make up to 4 restaurant reservations for dinner, do this about 3 weeks before your departure. It may take her uo to 7 days to get back, but lately someone else told me she only took a day.

Thanks for the input. Perhaps we shall meet, that would be great! Regarding the reservations, I don't know enough about the property to know where I want to reserve. Although, I do love Italian. This trip is really starting to get us fired up.

Ralph,we enjoyed your slide show. Are the seaside suites in the same resort? Probally a obvious newbie question however, we were curious! We are looking forward to warming our frozen ND bodies in the warm Mexican sun.

Follow this link and it will take you to EDR's restaurant list along with menus of each restaurant. Our favorite is Kampai (oriental), Carratera (mexcan) La Isla (International)

You are better off making reservations, you may get a table late, but no guarantee. They will take reservations up to 10pm (I think)
