Just a guest:
Take a look around this site under the "read more" heading at the top of the page. You will find lots of info. Also read through or search some of the posts in this forum under the "General Topics" section. There are so many fun and enjoyable things to do in Playa del Carmen, however, you have not indicated what you might be interested in. Here are some ideas: Go snorkeling: in the ocean or in a cenote, by yourself or with a tour. Visit ruins: Tulum is close and Coba is just a little further. Or there is Chichen Itza which is even further away. All wonderful. There are many others as well. Visit one of the eco-parks: Xel-Ha, Xcaret or Tres Rios. Take an ATV Tour in the jungle & visit a cenote. Take one of the Alltournative Tours (there's a link to their site at the bottom of this page & many discussions about them on the forum) Take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day: explore the island and go snorkeling. This is just a sampling of the fun things you could do during your visit. Denise |

It very much depends on how much your into ruins and history. Tulum is a great introduction to the Mayan world and it can be done in half a day if you want. It's small and close by. And a spectacular setting. Chichen is a full day, as it's about 2,5 hours away. The site is monumental and very impressive. You can read much more in the section Mundo Maya on this site. There is an article for each ruin.

sites to see
We just returned from Playa Del Carmen this week. We went to Tulum which was beautiful and very interesting and we went to Xel-Ha. I would definatley recommend these two places we had a blast. I also swam with the dolphins in Puerto Adventuras which was an amazing experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. We did an ATV jungle tour and then drove our own speed boat which was fun. I would recommend all of these activities, but it depends on what you like. There are so many great things to do in Playa.

Thanks, everybody.
If you could tell me where to buy trips. I understand that we could go to Tulum by ourselves taking a bus from 5th Avenue. How much is that? How about Chichen-Iztva? How much is it to buy a tour from a travel agency? Are there any places cheaper to buy it?? |

All the trips we went to (Tulum/Xel-Ha) were booked through our travel agency's representative at the hotel. If you purchased a package from a travel agency, all inclusive, they should provide you with a representative.
I know that swimming with the Dolphins in Xel-Ha is $90 US. |

Is Xel-Ha better than Xcaret to swim with the dolphins? Its like $115 I think at Xcaret plus $80 to get in the park. That, along with seeing the beautiful water, which I never have before, is one of the main things I want to do while in Mexico and want to make sure I get the biggest bang for my buck, as in cheapest possible but best quality too, will pay extra money happily if it means more time in the water with the dolphins. This is a major wish of mine and want it to be as special as possible.
