Father and son bonding (drinking)trip

Let me preface this by thanking all the wonderful people on this forum for all the info, wit, and wisdom that make this a fun place to hang out....
We started this trip plan when my beautiful wife suggested that my son and I needed to spend some quality time together. She thought maybe a fishing trip to Canada would be nice.. .Too cold I said, next thought ? Maybe a nice golf vacation to So. Carolina. I have a hard time playing 18 holes with my son without bloodshed I replied, how about a Mayan getaway I responded? I almost choked on my centenario when she agreed that this would be a good thing for both of us.. So let the adventure begin...

Booked our flights online, booked the Luna Blue (we will be back) and waited for the day to come.Left Owensville Tuesday the 17th for our park, stay fly thing in St.Louis,it was a balmy 31 at the time.

Found our hotel across from the airport and we are ready for the 4am wake up call...Unlike Lem, I did not over sleep. I hit the sack after 2 Tylenol PMs and 4 brews at 10pm so I would be well rested,,,did not happen..Woke up at 11:30 pm wide awake, thought the clock said 4:30am screamed at my son tripped over the suitcase and knocked over a chair..Austin (my son )opened an eye and asked What the hell are you yellin for it's only 11:30..Hard to focus these old eyes somtimes ..Could not go back to sleep so I fired up a fine cigar and enjoyed another brew..Got my son (dead to the world ) up at 4am, showered ,got to Lambert, through security and on to Cancun.
We land, breeze through customs and are out the door to find the ADO bus to Playa.

Trip to town was uneventful as there were only 10 other folks on the bus so the kid slept all the way.Arrived in Playa around 11:30 am and took off down 5th to find our home enjoying all the sights and activity around us as we walked.Had to stop at Posada Freud for a couple of beers then took off towards calle 26 again..We repeated this pattern a few more times before we found The Hotel Luna Blue..We walked through the gates at L.B. and were greeted by Cheri (what a great person ) checked in and enquired about the mystery dinner theater dinner at the T.B..She made a call, told them we were coming, got us set up for reservations, only thing was we had to change, hoof it back down 5th and pay before 1pm. No problem, made with time to spare, we are set for the night. Head back to grab some towels and hit the beach..

To be continued...

That first stop at Posada Freud sounds way familiar.
A drinking trip - father and son - that's the way it's meant to be

So we hit Xaman-Ha mini mart(right across the street from Luna Blue) for some Modelo and head to Mamitas. During our walk I mentioned to my son that he may notice a few gals strolling abouit topless and not to stare or make a fool out of himself (he left his sunglasses at home). We hit the beach and the beauty of is breath taking. It is somthing that a photo can not capture..well, mine anyway.
We find a spot to sit for a while have a couple of beers and try to take it all in.Ater an hour or so we decide to take a walk north and enjoy the moment. We make past the beach cam, wave at no one in particular keep heading up the beach. For those that have not done this , I would recommend it. We made up past all the boats anchored off the shore and finally came to where there were no more stuctures, rested a while and headed back.During this walk we would stop and refresh ourselves in the cool surf and lounge in the sun..Well we ran out of beer and had to go back
We made it all the way past Playa Maya, and decided to head into town for a snack before our dinner that night. It was then I discovered that I had lost my flip flops somewhere along the trek...so..........we headed back north again in the off chance we would find them..like thats gonna happen. We did not see them again but we did find several beach bars that had cold beer and happy hour...hell, I was happy so it worked for me. We finally made it back to Mamitas and thought it was time to shower and chill for a while.
After a rest we headed to the T.B. for the dinner theater and the nights entertainment. Jana (she is HOT) showed us to our table and we meet a great couple from Long Island (I think they were from the north east) Tommy and Francine (sp).( seen them several times during our stay). We had a blast. The food was very good, Steak all around and the brew and tequila flowed. If you have a chance to take in this production then don't pass it up cause it was way cool . After the show I was ready for some down time so we headed back to the ranch. I had gotten up Tuesday at 6:30am, got a 1 1/2 hour nap and now it's 11:00pm Wenesday..my ass was dragin. We made it to our room, I fired up a cigar, had a rum and coke out on the balony and Austin headed back to town..End of day one...

Love the attached pictures, keep them coming! Walking north along the beach is one of my best memories of our trip last year.
