Britney!!!
Boy, so many good news stories on this morning, I don't know where to start!
How about Britney, driving with her son on her lap? She "claims" that she was horrified by the aggressive paparatzi, but jeez, come on! That's no excuse! Put your kid in his carseat! |

This story really burned me. Apparently the incident is being investigated by Child Services and they say that at the least she will receive a fine. Yeah, right, that will really teach her, a $230 fine which she could probably pay in cash out of her pocket.
It is not like the paparazzi are going to attack her. They are taking pictures. They might be right up in her face while doing it and really annoying but it isn't like they are going to reach in and steal her child. Besides, I saw the pictures and she looks like she is smiling or at least not "terrified". And she didn't even have her seatbelt on! |

hahaha! I was just going to post this same thing.
here's the image: ![]() It's funny. Our office is in front of a school here that claims to be multi-cultural and focused on "sabiduria" (wisdom). They make all sorts of noise on a loudspeaker announcing the names of the students as their parents queue up to take them home. Most of the kids end up sitting in the front of the cars without even a seatbelt. The school says nothing. Today I saw a kid driving a Hummer sitting in his father's lap. Not sure where to comment on that one. |

It's funny...to be so scared of the paparatzi that you can't take the time to put your kid in his carseat...yet they could very easily (and probably did) follow her in her car, causing her to have to swerve and/or slam on the brakes to avoid them, thus putting the little guy right into the steering wheel or through the windshield.
Yeah, makes a lot of sense to me, Britney! |

What's more important to the woman, that the paparazzi won't get away with making a few hundred dollars with yet another Britney picture, or that her baby is as safe as possible?
Or, are the people who buy garbage and salivate at yet another Britney picture the ones who ultimately carry the blame? |

Having said that, I would not want some cameraman watching me with my kids for 24 hours a day. They would be bound to catch something that others could judge me on. As James pointed out, car seats are not a big deal in these parts. You will often see a family of 3 or 4 on a moped, and only the driver has a helmet. I don't think you will find a big difference in the amount of accidental child deaths between the US and Mexico. I may be wrong, but I think the US goes a little too far when it comes to regulating things. I use car seats for my kids, but I don't think I will make them stay in them until they are 4. What she did was wrong, for sure. However, I personally won't hop on the anti-Britney bandwagon for it. I was already on it for other reasons. |

I personnaly have a problem with kids not being in carseats...I was in a serious accident when I was 2...I had no seatbelt on and my mom was hit head-on. I flew up from the back of the station wagon and went through the windshield, had something like 100 stiches in my forehead, and a nice scar now. I should have been in a carseat, not playing around in the back.

I agree. Even something as simple as a rear end collision can cause a lot of injury to a child if they are not in a car seat. And in the US and Canada, there is a lot of traffic with bumper to bumper vehicles and this can happen quite quickly. I saw a depiction on TV last night of what could have happened if she had gotten into an accident with her child on her lap. Even with an airbag, that baby would have been severely injured. And as we know from other stars and their incidents with the paparazzi, it is not exactly unheard of for there to be a car accident while they are fleeing the paparazzi, especially in her "terrorized" state. |

I don't like her to begin with and this just makes it worse. Come on she said she was scared for her and her childs life and would do anything to protect her baby. Um how bout not placing his head 6 inches from the airbag!
