Building & landscaping to reduce storm damage
Riviera Maya builder Udi Saly, just added to the program of the Green Building Workshop, will talk about design and construction methods that can minimize the effect of hurricanes on homes and other buildings. He'll also talk about plants that can withstand a hurricane of category-4 magnitude and act as agents in preservation of the shoreline, the dune and the man-made structures.
Udi holds BSc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and has completed requirements for MSc. in Naval Architecture. Mr. Saly holds a Master of Science in Ocean Systems Management specializing in coastal zone development from MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology. You can see two Riviera Maya homes that he built on Jade Beach at RivieraMaya-Villas.com or http://caribbeansunrise.com/pages/1/index.htm. Udi will speak on Friday, February 17, at 9:30 a.m. during the Green Building Workshop at Centro Ecológico Akumal. See complete details on the workshop at CEA Workshop: http://www.ceakumal.org/bsustainable...era_mayab.html. |
