Tours & Bumpy Roads......

Hi Everyone!

My husband and I were hoping to book tours through this site, however I have read a few reviews that mention that they have traveled "very bumpy" roads to reach some of their destinations. My concern is, my husband has a bad back and bumpy roads are killer for him, almost literally, the end result would be him spending the rest of our trip in bed, flat on his back. I understand that there are a lot of roads in Mexico like this, but I am wanting to know which specific tours would not include a bumpy road.

Thanks so much!

Whatever you do, don't take the Alltournative "Jungle Crossing" trip!! The bumpy road is part of the trip on that one!

The Tulum tour is the only tour we offer that might have a road bumpy enough to make it stand out from the other roads here in Playa. I went down that Tulum road, however, last week, and they've done a lot of work on the road; it was smoothed out. Still not paved, however, so there's no telling how long it will be smooth.

One thing, though, we don't fly down the road when it's bumpy. The drivers don't want to wreck their vans, either, so they do go very slowly.

Also, you can request that you sit in the front rather than in the back of the van, where it tends to be more bumpy. Since we run small and exclusive tours, we certainly try to make the experience the best possible for everyone.

Thanks so much Heather & Anna! We are really looking forward to the Tulum & Beyond tour. I will be sure to request seats in the front and let's hope that road stays smooth until we get there in June!

Just a funny story to let you know about bumpy roads. Dear lord do I get car sick! It is not even funny. I start to sweat and turn green. At this point my husband knows to run! Well we took the mayan adventure tour thru Apple Vacations and this included a trip to hidden worlds cenote with a wonderful lunch afterward. Well, talk about a bumpy ride. Let's just say that there was no snorkeling for me only a solitary walk into the bush to well- you know. The locals laughed, our tour operators laughed! The six year old laughed. I eventually laughed and decided to start walking to the highway instead of taking that trip again. I didn't care. Needless to say, I sat up front said some prayers and made it out without losing my imaginary lunch. I must say when a tour operator warns of bumpy roads everyone should listen.

The road to Hidden Worlds (from the highway to the cenote) is a jungle road. The roads we use on our Tulum and Beyond tour is MUCH smoother than that.
