Best room at PlayaMaya
Okay, I've done a search and couldn't find much on this. My husband and I are wanting to stay at PlayaMaya but are not sure which room to book. I thought about the junior suite with the kitchenette; however it didn't look like it had an ocean view. Any resonse from those of you who have stayed there would be helpful.

We stayed at Playa Maya summer of '04. I honestly don't remember the room number (maybe 302?) but it was on the 3rd floor. We had two teenagers with us and our rooms were conected by adjoining doors. The view was good, you could see the ocean but not much of the beach. We had a small balcony but I do know some of the balconies were recently enlarged but don't know which ones. The hotel was wonderful, very nice, clean and friendly folks. Maybe Ryberg will see your post and answer your questions.

My favorite was actually in front of the hotel! Ya know, the "Playa" part of Playa Maya!
Seriously, we were on the 2nd floor and loved our room. I think they call it a Deluxe Ocean View. Room 203 I think. I had pics posted in the multi media but they have since vanished. Loved our room but, it is but just a room. Spend your time outside. The view is so much better! (not that the Playa Maya doen't have great views 'cause we loved ours). |

All the rooms at Playa Maya are great so it all depends on what you are looking for. The kitchenette rooms are actually in front of the hotel between the pool and the main building. Not much of a view from these rooms, but you are about 10 yards from the beach and a few steps from the pool.
We have stayed at Playa Maya three times and had an ocean view each time. One of the many things we love about PDC is the gorgeous color of the water. Being able to see those colors from our room is key. Waking up early in the morning, grabbing a book and sitting on the balcony with the view of the ocean is a part of every vacation to PDC. There is also a room with a jacuzzi and another with a large terrace. These are both on the first floor and do not have a view of the ocean. What you should really do is book two or three trips to Playa Maya so you can try out all the different types of rooms available. :p |

Hey!
Thanks for the question and the reactions. First, just to clarify, the jr suite is not an ocean view room here. Probably a good idea to take a look at the photos on our site on the page about that room type, too, just for the general layout. AS for which you might like best, yes that would depend on you. We have people who have stayed with us 8-9 times who have a standing order for a jr suite and woulnd't consider another room. Another similar case involves a couple with the same background here and standing request but for a jacuzzi room. I believe Becky likes the terrace rooms best. Most people go for ocean view, but then that's a lot like most people going for a beachfront hotel: that doesn't mean there aren't other very good options. Anyway, let us know! Steve |
