I know the feeling , we were there the other day and also had to wait .... with a cold beer , and it is well worth the few minutes wait.

El Fogón expands its empire...

El Fogón has opened a third restaurant in my area, on Constituyentes between 25th and 30th avenues. Michael and I went there for dinner last night and everything was as it should be: frijoles charros, queso fundido con chorizo, tacos al pastor. Smoky, yummy, warm nopales. Cold, tangy jamaica to drink, a cerveza or two. It was a bit more expensive than the older location, but only by a few pesos. I think our bill was 112 pesos for all that food. I couldn't even finish mine, what in the hell is wrong with me these days?

Hate to be a naysayer, but El Fogon didn't rock my world. Maybe I was there on a bad night. I'll try it again next month.

I prefered the tacos al pastor across the street at the other place... El Pastoricitas? Or something?

You must not have tried the queso fundido con chorizo or frijoles charros? Or perhaps the place is just not for every commie pinko in the book.

I know they don't open till 5 or 5:30 but what I don't know is if they are open 7 days a week. Didn't want to walk up there to find them closed that day.
Are they closed any day of the week?

Carboncitos blows Fogon away so hard on all counts there isn't even any competition. The difference in quality of meats and sauces is like night and day.

There's never been another taqueria in Playa that I could recommend so highly.
