On our last night in Playa, we ate dinner at Carboncitos. It was excellent. I had the arrachera plate with frijoles charros. Dave opted for rice and beans. We also ordered guacamole. All were very delicious. The salsas are sooo good.

The prices at Carboncitos are higher than at El Fogon, but Carboncitos is still very well priced. I eat at El Fogon more than Carboncitos because it's not often that I find myself eating on or near 5th avenue. I'm surprised to see that James even bothered to compare El Fogon with Carboncitos when they really inhabit different worlds.

i am SOOOOOOO with you on this one, James. Carboncitos rocks!!! love their salsas combo, tacos el pastor, queso fundido with chorizo, shrimp/grilled pepper, onions, bacon and white cheese dish, and the champiñones (mushrooms) with garlic. all YUMMO!!!!!! service has always been great as well.

matter of fact, i plan on eating there in exactly 24 more days right before a peep meet at the Bucket on the 25th. woo hoo!!

He might have meant that it isn't a gringo place and neither is the waitress?

On the other hand, I am a simple (read not high maintence) dude and Fagon is just fine for me....gonna eat it tonite!!!!
