Beach reclamation
Those pictures look pretty horrible. It looks like nobody even wants to swim in the murky areas...I can't believe how brown the water is...last year it was crystal clear blue water. Looks like before long, those beach chairs and loungers will be falling off the cliff. I sure hope the people involved in the initial reclamation have taken notice of what is happening to the beautiful beach and try to do something to rectify it. Staying at Luna encantada is early may...I don't even want to know what it might look like by then, looks really bad in my opinion.

Well folks might want to hang on and check some of these comments, here. Remember that the beach changes all the time, and in cycles of both accretion and erosion. Don himself pointed out the recency of this change in the his post with the photos:

Understood Ryberg. All I can say is from when I was there last year to now, the beach has eroded significantly based on the pictures I've seen...especially in front of Fusion/Luna encantada area. So are you saying when there are days of accretion on the beach the areas in today's pictures that look like a musty dirty swamp land, look like the beach in the picture u took, with nothing but blue water in front and no rocks? All I know is last April when I was there we spent every day swimming in front of Luna encantada and didn't have any obstacles like rocks or coral or anything obstructing our entrance into the ocean. Looks like there are obstacles to contend with everywhere in that area now.

![]() Been happening like that ever since we came on the scene. A beach project or an appropriately placed storm/hurricane somewhere in the general vicinity can throw a bigger swerve into things -- and the storms also help, by the way, not just hurt -- but then we get back to this sort of cycle. |

beach reclamation
Ryberg,...thanks for the info. Moke....those pictures make me
. I think back to just a year ago and how beautiful the beach looked, without obstacles to dodge anywhere in sight,...looks like a game of hopscotch will have to be played to enter the Carribean Sea this year. Very unfortunate photos to look at compared to the ones I took from late april of last year. I rarely saw any seeweed at all last year either. Crazy what mother nature can do.
