Thanks YWGDonandDeb! looks pretty lousy in front of where I will be staying for 10 days in early May.
![]() ![]() ....and compared to last year, that cliff looks like its pushed back at least 25 feet or so. I hope they at least re-grade the beach and make it a level slope down to the shore. Thanks for the pictures.

Beach Erosion & Sea Weed
We just returned from Playa and are surprised at the amount of beach erosion since Christmas as well this is the worst sea weed we have seen in a while! I spoke with a few local business people and they dont expect anything will be done with the beach until the 10th disaster is resolved (they are apparently waiting on federal funds as the city ran out of money) not sure if this is correct or not. What ever happened to the machine they used to pick up the sea weed? We also heard that the sea weed is a result of the gulf oil spill last year which is killing the sea weed and is now washing ashore. Any info would be appreciated as it is hard to obtain facts!

The city did not run out of money. The city "lost" 10 million pesos. The Feds have said no. Find the money. |

In your opinion Babaloo, do you think the city will lose even more $ if they don't keep the beach looking good? ...as that is what a main attraction is to most people that vacation. A beautiful beach with soft white sand and aqua blue water? I think the beach could be Playas most important asset, but I could be wrong. |

"They" are aware that the beach is the primary draw here. According to the press, "they" keep discussing the problem and a need to fix it. I haven't a clue what "they" are going to do. |

One of the problems with that idea was that tearing it down could well do more damage than leaving it there (especially I believe in terms of reef issues). If I remember correctly.

that is not what my definition of a beach shore should look like....the one in front of Luna looks like the coral and green moss is a retaining wall one must get over prior to getting into the ocean. ....very, very, very sad looking. I sure hope whoever oversees the projects on the beach and the maintenance of it, is taking note of certain areas affected more than others at least. That picture gives me an upset stomach.
