As you can see....no cliff back then.....just a gradual slope down to the water.
Yes, that is the natural beach in that area. I have pictures just like this. Too bad we haven't crossed paths with you two again since then.

And that is exactly what the beach in front of Playa Maya looks like. Hubby is in the pic. He is in the chaise in the foreground of the pic. Staring out at the beautiful scenery. He looked like that pretty much all day The beach is fabulous! Very much like the beach we fell in love with five years ago. Almost no cliff at all, just a nice gentle slope to the sea. The cliff is still there between El Faro and the north pier. The rocks are in front of Fusion. That's where they belong! They are beautiful as they were five years ago! Everyone coming here soon, you are going to love it!

I know.....we don't come down in Feb or March anymore. We have really fallen in love with the first week in May trip each year. One of these times...we will have to try and sneak down for your rib event. Its hard to get down twice now that the new house is done in Colorado. We spend as much time as possible out there.

How's the beach in the Playacar area? Specifically, Xaman-Ha?? Anyone know?

(Not that it matters... we'll be there anyway!)

A walk down memory lane…

I take a lot of pictures when I'm in Playa del Carmen and I thought this might be an interesting study.

The future site of Luna Encantada. This is the only shot I have from 2004. Locate Hotel Fusion on the right edge and look left past the boat. There is a familiar line of black at the water's edge.

YWGDon&Deb. Thanks so much for the photos. It truly is amazing how you have pictures from Playa in the same general area since 2003. I only know what the beach looked like last year which is when I visited Playa for the very 1st time. I really appreciate this visual timeline you have provided. It really gives me an idea of just how the beach should look at it's normal state. I can't help but say I love the way the fake beach looks too. 49 days!!!

You're welcome. I have about 12,000 photos of Playa from the past decade. The beach is just one part of the Playa experience. I'm sure you'll love it all as much as we do. Have fun!
