Was the large palapa to the left of the hotel part of the hotel? I was never sure of that, but the large palapa that was separate from the hotel is still not there. They hotel itself looks very good though. They have repaired the large palapa (that I think is a restaurant) and added a dive shop/rental place for water toys. They beach in front of the hotel has been packed for awhile now. Volleyball, football throwing, people sunning in chairs, etc. I posted photos of the beach a few months ago, so a search will find them. If I get a chance soon I'll grab some more.

I dove off of Cocoa Beach for my 2nd dive and it was great. It is one of the deeper dives in the area. I have sort of a funny story about the dive though.
I had a throw away camera from kodak that is good to about 60 feet. I was getting close to 80 feet and trying to get a picture of the reef. All of the sudden the winder of the camera wouldn't wind anymore. I kept wondering what the ---- is wrong with the camera? Then I realized that the depth I was at was below 60 feet. As Homer Simpson would say doo. But when I started to ascend the cameras winder started working again, amazing. No I didn't see any damage to the reef. |
