Cat in need of assistance

Hi. Iīm not sure where to post this, but hopefully someone on here can help. There is a tan cat that hangs out near the All Riviera resort/La Ruina and places along 2 Norte near there, that seems to have a damaged right back leg. Is there a cat rescue or someone that can check out this cat and see what the scoop is? He seems friendly enough, though didnīt let me close enough to inspect what was wrong with his leg. It did look quite deformed or broken.

Hopefully someone on here can help or let someone know that knows something about cats.

Thanks!

-Trent

p.s. Iīve been in Playa since this Past saturday and will post reviews/notes after I get back.

I know Susie Q Roo owns a cat and has been to the vet with it.
She lives in Paamul, though.
Hope she can help out.

As much as I love kitties and as much as I would love to help, I have to pass. There are SO many kitties here that I would love to rescue and care for but I just can't. There's just not that much of me to go around. My little one found me when he was injured and I trapped him and took him in (even though I'd vowed that my then-current cat would be my last) and got him all fixed up and have managed to somewhat domesticate him. His recent bout with illness convinced me (and my wallet) that I can't do this anymore. I SO wish there was more spaying and neutering of cats in the area so this problem would lessen. It's hard to change a whole culture.

I hope someone does rescue your kitty though, Trent!

I understand, Susie.
I've seen a similar situation on Crete, where I've been a couple of times.
Way too many stray cats too look after.
I guess it's a survival-of-the-fittest thing.
But perhaps you could PM Trent a phonenumber of a vet? Just a thought, mind you.

There's a good vet in town named Claudia Lewy. She speaks excellent English and has a clinic near the Chedraui. She has lots of experience capturing wild animals. The clinic's number is 984-873-1108. She usually gets in around 10-11am. The receptionist does not speak any English. I'm not even sure that he speaks Spanish since I've never been able to understand a single word he's said.

I'm still getting over the recent death of one of my kitties, so I'm also a bit hesitant to get involved. But if you need help getting in contact with the vet or something else, go ahead and PM me.

Poor kittie

Perhaps Iīll walk by Plaza Pelicanos and see the Vet tomorrow. It does seem to be in pain as it only uses 3 legs. But i didnīt see any bleeding or anything so it could have been like that for a while. It did seem to be relaxing ok and laying around ok though. Just weird watching it hop around on only 1 back leg.

I just thought there may be some rescue group in town that looked out for some of the animals..

Awww...I've got two cats and have made trips to the EMERGENCY vet before. Like Susie Q Roo, my wallet KNOWS that I own kitties. Let's see...our last issue was a UTI. Before that an abcess on the base of my female kitty's tail. If I were in Playa I would love to try and help, but for now I'm just sending along my well wishes. Hope that kitty isn't in too much pain. You're a good person, snorkymn, for looking out for the little fella.
