Weekend Party Thread

There has been a thread about what we will talk about whilst all those folks are gone to PeepFest.

This weekend's party thread is the start of the answer to that question. So, lets give them something to talk about

Actually, they need to give us something to talk about

Bonnie Raitt said it this way

People are talkin, talking 'bout people
I hear them whisper, you won't believe it
They think we're lovers kept under covers
I just ignore it, but they keep saying
We laugh just a little too loud
We stand just a little too close
We stare just a little too long
Maybe they're seeing, something we don't, Darlin'

Let's give them something to talk about
Let's give them something to talk about
Let's give them something to talk about
How about love?

I feel so foolish, I never noticed
You'd act so nervous, could you be falling for me?
It took a rumor to make me wonder
Now I'm convinced I'm going under
Thinking 'bout you every day
Dreaming 'bout you every night
Hoping that you feel the same way
Now that we know it, let's really show it, Darlin'

Let's give them something to talk about
A little mystery to figure out
Let's give them something to talk about
How about love, love, love, love?

I'm leaving in three hours!!!!

Three hours drive to Seatac airport...4am check in for flight...flight leaves at 6am...one hour stop in LAX, then arrival in Cancun at 4:23pm.

Kids are crying and don't want us to leave...I feel guilty and horrible. Don't know what to say to ease their minds.

Yeah, Kathy and I decided it should be one of our theme songs in our middle age

Leasa,

My older brothers and I did that too....little did we know then that Mom and Dad needed some SANITY time (or is that INSANITY?)...

Funny thing is - it didn't harm us, taught us independence....and it didn't scar us for life...

I get a kick out of all these parents who take their kids along, not from lack of a place or people with whom they can stay, but when I asked them, and I DO, said it's because they couldn't dare think to deprive them of the experience (one which they're too young to recall in later years anyway)...

They'll be fine. They're being kids. They think as most kids do - how does everything affect "me"...(Even the best kids are a bit centrically motivated at that age...) So don't let that rob you and John from a much needed time away.

Have a great time.

BTW folks - I KNOW sometimes its a great idea to take the kiddos along....we've done it and plan to do it too....so don't take what I just said the wrong way. (We just waited until they could appreciate the sacrifice, and could tolerate long plane rides, and blah-blah-blah...with emphasis on the blah-blah-blah...)

Yeah, what he said. I tried to say that in another place, but you said it better.

Big party this weekend.
Roni,
Cuffedlinks
Sunkneemarie

Actually, those 3 ought to really pull off a great party. This is the weekend to drag Kathy into this mess.

Thanks so much, Cuff, this really helps actually. It's just really tearing at my heartstrings, ya' know? Mostly Jorden, 'cause he's a mama's boy (after everything he's been through the past year it's hard to wonder why). He was really crying and asking me not to go. We've just never really done this at all, once when they were 2 and 3 and they didn't know that we were leaving. So I'm not good at it...and now I'm bawling. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!! I know they will be okay while we are gone...at least I HOPE they will (I have my reservations about who I left them with, but by everyone else's account - including JOhn - they will be fine!). I know it's going to be a sad drive down to SEattle, and a sad day overall as I think about them and Jorden crying so much. I hope I'll get over it by the end of the day though. We really DO need this time away on our own, a time to be re-energized!

Our daughter did this to us too...just this January.
She will be graduated from High School in May...HA!
She was sad to see us go, wasn't to this degree.
The silent treatment...

So we'll see what comes around for her in August for a "Senior Trip" per se, before she begins University...
