Questions-Visiting Xpu-Ha Palace 12/28-1/4

Hi,

This will be our first time to Playa (and Mexico) and we are very excited! There has been a lot of helpful information on this board. I have a few questions about the Xpu-Ha Palace. It looks like a wonderful place for our preferred style of vacation (relax, natural atmosphere, etc.), but I do not see a lot of comments from people about it. I'm hoping someone can answer a few questions:

Will there be many families there and were there activities for young teenage kids? Are there opportunities for them to meet other kids their age? My kids love to swim in the ocean and snorkel so I'm not overly concerned about them getting bored, but still am interested in what else is there for them. I'm hoping that since we are going over the holiday break we will run into other families. Parents for us to hang out with and other kids for them.

Has anyone taken the tours that are included in the price/package for the Palace resorts? Which ones are recommended (and which ones are NOT)!

What kind of dress code is required in the restaurants? Can my husband and son get by with dockers and a polo shirt? What about jeans or shorts and also what kind of shoes?

Any other details you might want to share for a family of 4 on our first trip to Mexico?

Thanks!

Xpu Ha

We went there last year. While we don't have kids, there seems to be lots of them enjjoying themselves.

We took the Isla Mujeres tour and were not impressed. Many hours on the bus and many hours dropped into the shopping center, and relatively few hours on the beach.

Restaurants were casual - saw most everything at dinner. I suppose that they would prefer nicer attire, but they didn't say anything.

Have fun!
