Occidenatl Grand Flamenco Xcaret

Finally my trip report. I won't go into alot of detail about flights, Cancun customs, except to say We arrived on 3 dec for 4 nights. Departed 3 1/2 hours late out of Cleveland, so that kinda blew the 1st day. Got to the hotel around 400pm, about 1 hour drive from airport including 2 other hotel stops.

Check in was a breeze got a map and dailey activity sheet (which restaurants were open, time activites were going on, what the show was going that night, etc.)
I requested in email about week before smoking room king bed upper floor. We got all requested. Flamenco 2 bldg 19 room 19218 2nd floor facing a road and gardens. Rooms on opposit side got pool view. Rooms you will find need a room key to keep air and electric on so just kept the extra room key in at all times. Rooms are nice size, big closet with about 4-5 shelves for you clothes and safe deposit box in there also. Tv and clock in room, small desk also a chair and table, on balacony 2 chairs and table. As everyone has said the mexican beds are hard as a rock no execption here, I had no problem sleeping. At 1st I thought the room had musty smell so I thought we would change rooms, but I brought some candles and turn the A/C on and later was better. Also celing fan in room. Mini bar was stocked with 1 each coke light coke orange drink and sprite.
4 bottle waters and 2 moldelo beers. When the guy brought the luggage we asked for more beer he got 4 more cans and each day our mini bar was stocked 6 beers and 6 waters. Didn't tip until thurs and than left 3.00 for mini bar a 3 for maid last day left the big tip.
Room was cleaned very nice, with animals daily from towels. One thing the maid did was always took out the key for electric so when we got back to the room on electric only took a short time to cool off room again. Hubby always thought was too cold for him to me just right.
Bathroom was nice only shampoo soap and lotion given in here. Shower was nice, great water pressure, bench in shower which was nice. Hairdyrer had only 1 speed, high, so you may want to bring your own. No iron in room, requested one when we got there and got it the next day. A compact travel size ironing board but it worked so no problems there. In my opinion Flamenco 2 is the bldg you want to be in.

Sorry this is so long there is so much more to tell about Grand Flamenco, since it is a new hotel.

Next is the grounds, just beatiful with flowers and trees all around. You can tell they built this hotel around the folage. Some areas they are redoing and planting by the Royal Rooms. Tile all aroud this reosrt. You would think they would know better. Very nice, but when it gets wet very, very, slippery. This could be dangerous. No birds around this place I missed that. Last year we stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso and lots of birds there. We saw a kitten here, she must be house cat, very friendly.

The pool area is very nice big no built in benches but there is an island in middle with lounge chairs. Pool bar was nice. Some rooms in Flamenco 3 building 20 have rooms right on the pool 1st floor. All kinds of hamocks thoughout the hotel and pool area in shade and sun. You can find shade or sun at the pool area. Didn't seem like alot of activity at the pool area, but that could because the resort was maybe 1/2 - 1/4 full.

Now to the beach area. The beach is man made. So kinda like a lagoon. No waves, some fish. Looks like they are trying to make some kind of walk way around the beach area connecting to the ocean. I am not really a beach person and always perfer the pool area, although I do like to walk the beach (no walking here), but I really loved it here at the beach. Flamenco has floats for guests to use I think thats great. I used one everyday. Floated in the ocean, this was nice I didn't have to worry about floating away because it all enclosed. I think this is a great beach for small children. You don't have to worry about the waves and undertow, not very deep either. I went to the rockey area where they are builing something and could still stand ( I'm 5'7).
Long walk to the beach area about 4 minutes from our room. They do offer shuttles but I don't know how often they run only used it once out of 3 days. So make sure you have everything with you when you go to the beach area or it's long walk back to your room.

Lots of walking at this resort, but thats good exercise
so you'll get lots of exercise at this place.

Thats all for now I will finish with the food and Xcaret later and anything else I forgot.

Just remember all of this information is what I obseved or took part in at the hotel, only my opinion others may think differently. More later.
