I bought the card last year after booking my hotel outside this site. On the whole every provider that we used honored the card without question and were quality establishments.

Playa maya lunch, babes and tequila barrel

best deals we used: Babe's noodles, Yaxche, Dr. Taco, Playa Maya restaurant, Java Joe's.
We found several other places that gave 10% off when they were billed as discounting more.

There are some good restaurants on the pdc but you still need to go out and explore some not on it. That being said if you plan on having a nice meal you can easily save $10 per person at Zocola, Yaxche or Palapa Hemmingways. Ifanother big ticket item worth looking at is spa itza, if you were thinking about a massage then there is another $10 savings. Throw in a scuba dive and you are looking at another $10. $30 on 3 things you were going to do anyway. Then think about all the money you save on drinks at tequila barrel, la ranita, beer bucket, ******...

Tropical Restaurant at first said that the discount was 10%, but when we pointed out that the card noted a 25% discount, they caved (without any protest). This was the only issue we encountered with the card; we used it often. The hard part was remembering to show the card BEFORE ordering. They aren't happy when you bring out the card after-the-fact (the same thing happens in most US restaurants, in fact).

we tried to get the discount at tropical. all they wanted 2 do was argue, so we took the 10% & didn't go there again.

Our card paid would have paid for itself in a couple of nights drinking at La Ranita!! :p
We got it free from using this site to get our hotel info.

But seriously, everywhere I used it, they honored it no problem.
Juan at la Ranita almost set it on fire...he he, he thought he was so funny!

How many cards do I need to purchase? We typically just get one bill, so is the discount on the total bill or per person? I am going to get the card, but the 2 people or 3 people thing confused me.

Thanks

The card was a great deal for us. We used it at restaurants, bars and a couple of visits to Itza Spa. Everyone seemed please when they knew who recommended their establishment and were most gracious about honoring it. I figure, the more we save, the longer we can stay!

If there are two of you, you need one card.

I purchased the card as well...there will be three of us using it so we paid the extra money to add a person. I, too, had asked about the Playa Deal Card and everyone has told me that it will pay for itself in no time.

Did you check out the list of restaurants, stores & other services that honor the card? It's on the same page that you order the card. You get a description of the establishment and what kind of discount is offered and whether its good one time only or not.

We also were given smaller discounts than advertised at Cafe Tropical and Hot Baking Co. No big deal though - the discounts on drinks at Tequila Barrel, etc. easily made up for it.

The Playa Deal Card is a dynamic product - we periodically add places (and sometimes take one off too). The biggest challenge we face, as the creators of this card, is to make sure everyone involved is informed, that the manager in each place makes sure he/she informs new staff members of the deal. There's a quick turn-over of staff here. We regularly visit all participants to make sure everyone is on board, but sometimes there's a glitch. Overall, it works very well though, or we wouldn't have been able to keep it alive for so many years.

Look out for new additions soon: Pasta Luego, Beef E.G.'s, Bambu are just some of the establishments we're in the process of adding.

Well, there will be a total of 5 of us going and a friend down there (well from Mexico City) will be joining us. Some times we'll be eating together, some times probably not so I should figure one card per 'couple' would be a good way to go.

Cool, thanks for your help. I should go somewhere and intro myself as I'm always up to meeting people from online cuz it's just too fun.
