Hello,
I'm thinking of traveling here for my honeymoon in October. I would like to get your opinions of which hotel/resorts are best/most-romantic for honeymooners. I saw a decent price and review for the El Dorado Resort and Spa. Does anyone have any comments on that hotel in particular? Thanks for the help,
Kevin

I stayed there about four years ago or so. It was nice, very secluded, you do need to take a cab to get about anywhere unlike some of the AIs in Playacar where you can walk into downtown PDC.

I actually just got back yesterday from a week in PDC (tears in my eyes when I finanlly had to leave!). We stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal, which was absolutely lovely. Beautiful birds all around the grounds and gorgeous pathways through the trees -- very romantic. It was pretty crowded when we got there but by the time we left it was only at 45% -- very nice and quiet.

We took a bus to Tulum on a tour. In my past trip I just took a cab from the El Dorado -- much nicer and you didn't have to stop at so many other resorts to pick up other people. Speaking of which, one of our stops was at the El Dorado. Might be just me, but it didn't look quite as nice as I remembered. But perhaps I'm comparing it to the Iberostar Quetzal, which I do believe is much nicer. But hey, you'll have a wonderful time in PDC no matter what -- it's just gorgeous.

Like you'll see other people say on this site -- whatever you do, make sure you get into town and enjoy yourself there. The people are wonderful. My boyfriend (first trip to anywhere in Mexico) said he didn't really "feel" Mexico until we went "al centro." We also took the ferry over to Cozumel and that was really a blast.

Have a wonderful time!! I know you will.

Thanks for the help cowgirl!! I appreciate the information. I ended up going with the Porto Real when I saw a package deal for a price I couldn't resist. The hotel + airfare for a week was less than I could find the airplane tickets for by themselves. I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the town. Thanks again for the help.

We saw the Porto Real and it's really gorgeous. In fact, that's where we were discussing going on our next visit. Well, congratulations on your upcoming wedding, you definitely have your honeymoon down right!
