My own personal AI Resort?
The whole town of Playa del Carmen!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.... I was going to stay at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya for $370usd per night AI, but have since changed to the Riviera del Sol hotel for $120usd per night. So if I do the math correctly I have $250usd a day to spend on lunch, dinner and beer/drinks/snacks. We do our share of drinking, don't get me wrong , but I still feel like we can eat at the nicest restaurants every night, go bar hopping every night, enjoy local food every day, and still have money left over! Am I wrong? I just felt that after some research I could take the same money I had budgeted for AI and still eat/drink as much as we want in the town, support the local economy, and experience a lot of variety. Just sharing my thoughts after spending a few hours on this website.

Congradulations! You've discovered the secret to a true Mayan Riviera experience. Another plus is that you will have the opportunity to meet a larger variation of people from different backgrounds. You'll find the homework isn't that difficult either.

now imagine staying at a place of only 65 a night ...a stumble INN right along 5th. you could drink yourself blind with all the extra cash...you could buy round after round for all your new friends.....Its not just the point about the value of Playa, but the diversity...If anyone has ever done a count of all the restaurants just on the and one block to 10 all the way from Juarez to the north....it would be like counting stars. hhhhhmmmmmm, who is up to the challenge...?

Check out the hotels on this site through the trip planning tab and book through them. You will get the Playa Deal card free with a minimum stay. I believe it's 4 nights. Then go have fun and write a trip report, I live for them since I can't travel for a while.
