Quick comment about car rental

I noticed when I last rented a car in PDC, the agreed deductible of 10,000 pesos showed up as $10,000 on the receipt. I reckoned it was a problem of using a pre-printed, possibly US, document. I asked the sales staff to change it and they did without issue. Just wouldn't want to have to argue it in court....

WHEW!!!!

I rent from the Hertz in Playa, full insurance included $0 deductible, 100% value coverage on anything/everything. Was pricey, $75USD for the day, but they signed a guarantee on paper the insurance was indeed 100% and $0 additional cost from me.

Grimes, thanks, but I think 10,000 pesos is $1,000.

10,000 pesos could be* $1,000 USD and may appear on printed documents with Mexico as $10,000 though they really should print $10,000 MXN as that is not ambigous. The $ symbol is used in Mexico to represent currency and is not necessarily meant to represent the currency used in your own country outside of Mexico.

Hi Michael,

You're right. The $ is the confusing bit. My receipt lacked the 'MXN' clarification.

I didn't, for a moment, think it was a disingenuous transaction. Just unclear.
