Just went to Banamex, next to Santanera, and saw an interesting lime green combi, selling tacos. It is a super clean VW bus, that has been converted into a taqueria. Intrigued (and hungry), I ordered three arrachera tacos (en salsa) and a Fanta. Good eats, and only 25 pesos for the 3 tacos.

The combi is parked in front of Santanera, and the owner told me that they have only been there a month. Good eats on the run.

i also ate at that VW bus one night during PF06. kept seeing it and BGFangs and i tried the tacos arrachera. they were pretty tasty.

Sorry, forgot to answer your question... La Santanera is on 12th St, between 5th and 10th Ave. It is, IMHO, the coolest club in Playa. The upstairs lounge is decorated with mexican wrestling masks and the dance club downstairs doesn't even open until about 2am or so (but worth the wait!)

He's still there as of when David and I saw him on 7/25/06, nestled into a spot next to the bank now (nose end of the VW bus facing out toward the street). Haven't dined there yet, but will surely check it out next March during Peepstock!

IMHO, average tacos (post-dancing Purina drunk chow), but you can't beat the ambiance!!!

Had the breakfast taco's our last trip, pretty good, he did a great job on the microbus, it was a flashback for me cause I had one back in the sixty's. The sound system is an IPOD and was playing Dylan - I had to check out the eats! The order is written on a Palm Pilot and shown on a screen and a printed receipt is given - too cool!
