My mother's family is from Stavanger and Sandnes. We were there a lot at Christmas when I was small. Always windy and rainy. Seldom snow for Christmas.

I live near Oslo. Not so windy and rainy, but cold. We hope for spring now. Some of the snow was melting today.

While you're in Cuba, I'll most likely be in Norway. My wife Hilary's family is from Bergen and we're heading to their summer cabins in the hills- near Stavanger I believe- I think it's called Fidjestolen.

10 days in a cabin with the in-laws with no electricity, running water or phones- this should be an interesting test of the limits of marriage.

Then I hope the weater will be nice.

There is nothing more to do than take a walk in the montains. Taking a long walk alone could be refreshing.

Do you bring a mp3 player? And extra batteries!

Yes, I do remember the area with cabins, but even in summer it was too cold for me. We'd have about 2-3 weeks of summer-ish weather which was more like spring in the US. But life was less focused on making money, and we had more time together...*sigh* Can't have it all, can we? Norway is beautiful.

The times are changing fast. We are to catch up with the US. But in a cabin in the Norwegian mountains you may find true peace and lots of time for each other.

I'm back from fantastic 2 weeks in Cuba. I took about 500 photos, and Kari took more than 190. Tomorrow we are going for a 4 days trip by car to the Swedish east coast to visit some friends. I will come back with a trip report and pictures after that.
