I have now been to La Bodeguita Del Medio in both Playa Del Carmen an Havana and I must admit that both the Mojito and the food are better in the one in Playa.

The restaurant in Havana is quite small, but it has a lot of sharm. And all the pictures on the wall behind Kari and me are of very famous people.

Thor, what a great start!!! I've been looking forward to this report since you first mentioned you were going. Thanks for taking the time to put this together for us. The photography is beautiful! I really like the one Kari in front of the blue car with bright blue trim on the building, but the paint on the walls is worn away. Wonderful composition.

Yes, I like the Mojitos at Babe's.
But the ones at La Boduguita Del Medio (the Cuban restaurant), with brown rum, is my favorite (You have to ask for it). I looked forward to Mojitos with brown rom in Cuba, but you only get it if you ask for it there too.

There are not so many colorful buildings really. Most of them need a restore.

This is the only new building in the old town center. Beeing built in these days.

One of the nights in Havana we went to the Tropicana Nightclub. It is Cuba's most famous nightclub. Since the Tropicana opened in 1939, famous artists such as Benny Moré Nat King Cole and Maurice Chevalier have appeared here. Over 200 dancers perform. This is spectacular! A must see! The music is fantastic too. One of the best big bands I've ever heard.

It is outdoors. Kari and I got 2 cans of Coke and half a bottle of rum on the table. It was in the ticket.
:p

This is Cuba.

Not all cars are old cars. But only the tourists have money to spend on taxis.

These pictures bring back such memories. It has been about 6 years since we visited Havana that one day out of our vacation in Vardero, but it left such an impression on both myself and my husband, that we both vowed to come back. I would love to stay a few days in Havana some day. It is such a fascinating and historical city. We went to the Tropicana that night and was just wowed by the outdoor theatre and wonderful show!
