LOOKING INTO Tucan/Quetzal

Hello i was looking into booking a family trip Iberostar Tucan. would this be a good choice for a family with 5 children all under the age of 10. i will also be traveling with four older adults that arent very open to topless sunbathing would this be a problem at this specific resort.

Your family will love it! So much to see and the kids will flip for the jungle atmosphere and all its critters. We have been to four different AI's in the Playa area and this one is our favorite by far. Basically everything was good, a few topless sunbathers but you really have to be looking. There are pluses to many of the other resorts as well but none compare to the wildlife you will see at the Tucan. We had howler monkeys outside our third balcony patio evey night!! They can be loud! My sons favorite thing to do was take bread/rolls from breakfast and on the way back to our room, through the jungle path, he would feed all the different looking birds and bunny/rat looking things (agouti, I think). These animals are roaming free and uncaged by the way. If you have anything specific you would like to ask, shoot me a pm. Oh, if you do decide to go, ask for building 10 or 11, closest to the beach

iberostar tucan

Building 13 has a pathway that leads directly to the pool on the Tucan side, this is our favorite, but I believe all the rooms have their advantages. building 12 is behind the restaurant, 10 and 12 are the furthest from the lobby area. your kids and friends will love this place, it is the best for the money in the area!

We booked a Jr. Suite a couple of years ago. Found it not worth the extra price, as it is the same size as the regular rooms and we did not spend enough time in the room to enjoy it.

We are going to the Tucan for the 6th time in September. Love the place.

I just enjoy being near the ocean and not having to walk far when I want to reserve my spot before breakfast!!! We have been going during high season so requesting a closer standard room is not always going to happen. I like waking up and seeing the ocean in front of me and hearing it at night. We only travel once per year so spending the extra money isn't really a big deal.

Does anyone know when the high season for this hotel and how the weather is in july and august. I plan on going to last week of july and stay threw out the first week of august. Also does 1500 us dollars per adult sound like good price for a 7 night stay flying out of LAX for tucan.

Hi Alex, I have done this trip out of SFO for 1050 up to 1275 this last time in Nov. The prices do seem to be higher now as I have been checking in hopes to re book. As far as the weather, plenty of people go in July/aug. Personally I never would. It's plenty hot and humid in Nov/early Dec. I mean like 85-90 degrees and a nice humid feel. I have heard the heat and humidity in July can be stiffling. Being a Calif girl and not experiencing or ever living with midwest/eastcoast heat/humidy I don't think I would enjoy myself but you may tolerate it differently. When ever you go, you will love the Tucan.

Our friends went in August cause it was their honeymoon. They said the heat was awful! We live in NE so it's a big difference. August here in NH is bad enough!!! It's hard cause at the Tucan and many other resorts the AC is mostly in your room and the restuarants. The most of your time is out of these places. We go in April and the weather is just perfect.

We stayed at the Tucan last August, and yes, it's hot, but when you're near the water it's breezy. We found it very hot while eating b/c the buffets don't have AC. Their prices have gone up quite a bit this year, so we're trying a couple of different hotels this year. We enjoyed the Tucan, even though we went right after Emily hit, and the jungle was sparse! I'm sure you'll enjoy it...just don't venture far from the water during daylight. It cools off a little at night, but it's very humid...like 100%!!

Here's a link to our photo album if you'd like to see our pics.
