Club Maeva Tulum or Barcelo??
Has anyone stayed at both the Barcelo and Club Maeva Tulum? The prices are pretty different, but we're beach lovers, and both seem to have nice beaches, which is a priority. Is one beach better than the other? Are both about the same distance from Puerto Aventuras and /or Playa?
Thanks in advance, Nancy |

This is the far north beach at Barcelo were people complain about the rocks and you can see some at the entry. I love this part of the beach there is lots of soft sandy areas. . You can scan through my pictures if you like. Its a 2km stretch of beach and there is lots of sandy areas. Its just harder to enter at the newer part of the resort the north beach. Most people didnt not use that beach before the Colonial and Tropical was built. Its a lovely natural tropical beach. http://community.webshots.com/photo/...59440265poOqFN This is part of the main beach 90 percent sand and it goes out a long way. Fantastic. Simply put, the Barcelo is a 5 star resort and Club Maeva is a 4 star resort. There IS a difference between the quality at these properties - no matter how much someone likes one over the other. The Barcelo is a more upscale resort, more amenities, more bars and dining choices, nicer rooms, nicer pools, much better evening entertainment.
Both beaches are very nice. The beach in front of the new section at the Barcelo can be rocky in spots, but the beach in front of the original section is lovely: With the addition of the new Tropical and Colonial sections at the Barcelo, it is a MUCH bigger resort than Club Maeva - so if you rather something smaller and more intimate, then don't go with the Barcelo. The Barcelo is closer to Playa than Club Maeva, and immediatly next door to the entrance to Puerto Aventuras. |

Thanks Shammy and Pammer!
Lots of good info to take into consideration. I'd like to be close to P.A. so we can check it out easily. We'll be in Playa the 2nd week of our vacation so I'm not too concerned with being able to get there from P.A. I know we can take the colectivos. Thanks again for all your help! And Shammy, sorry I didn't get to meet you at Peep Fest. We were there the week before, staying right next door to CaroleLB! (in Bufante's room )Nancy |
