We might have caught them on a bad night, but thats how it goes in the food business. Our bad experience will not warrant a second chance.
Hmmm..that is really unfortunate...the owners, I am certain, would not be happy to hear about your bad experience, but I'd bet they would want to hear about it nonetheless. I can tell you, as a restaurant owner, that we just hate when this happens (and despite our very hard efforts, it does happen to all of us from time to time), but we are always interested in hearing about it as a complaint is truly a gift and helps us to tweak our operations to make our establishment better and better to help to ensure we delight our guests each and every time!

Great service can often result in a meal tasting even better than the chef deserves credit for...or bad service can do the same thing on the negative side

Beyond that, I can also tell you that I have eaten there many times (each time the owners were in the restaurant), and both the food and the service were very nice.

From what my understanding of the word changarro, this restaurant would not be typically classified as such. In my opinion though, this is also not a "fine dining" Italian restaurant (is there one in Playa?)...it is just very, very good!
(most often )

Jacko....

I think you have made a valid point here. Sometimes excellent service and genuine interest in a patron, can overcome some shortcoming on the chef's part. I have often gone to a restaurant, been served by a condescending waiter and been disappointed in the food. By this time, I don't know if it's the food or the dang waiter. Also, it think a lot depends on your expectations.

i have eaten at almost all of the selected locations. the best italian restaurant in town is makkaroni for its authenticity, relaxed atmosphere, and good food. their prices are better then most places as well.

Sorry, didn't get a closeup of the food.

Thumbs up la pummurola

Since I posted this some time ago, I've been to Pummurola many times. I've also been to Italy several times and this is the most authentic Italian style thin crust pizza I've had outside of Naples where it was supposedly invented. My wife also has had their lasangna and pronounced it "great." You can also purchase their great home made bread for carry out every morning from their bakery around the corner from the restaurant. That bread, a little olive oil with pepper and salt, and a glass of wine and a few olives or a slice or two of good Spanish manchego or Italian Parm is all I need for a great light lunch or dinner.

We had dinner last night at "10", the new Argentine steak house on the corner of 30th and 5th, right around the corner from our condo. We had two nice 9 oz steaks, salads, three glasses of Malbec and two big still waters and the tab came to around $50 with a generous tip. It was quite good, certainly as good as Tango Taco where I've eaten several times.[

quote=diogeron]An Italian guy that I know in Playa also recommended this place but I thought he told me it was on 38th St, around 10th Ave. I walked over there and couldn't find it. What's the location? We're going to Playa on Sat and I'd love to find the place. He said they have the best pizza in the area.[/quote]
