Barcelo Maya Activities
I am thinking of taking my two kids (15yo girl and 17yo boy) for a short vacation to thr Barcelo Maya. Can anyone tell me if they have kids of those ages and what tey thought of the activities for thier age group? Also, I have read that the Barcelo has a "pitch and putt". Anyone have any details on that? Are clubs available or do I need to bring mine? How many holes? Additional cost? Rough idea of yardages? Thanks in advance.

There are no specific activities for kids that age. They are obviously too old to go to the kids club, so they would just partake in whatever adult activities they were interested in. This could be ping pong, tennis, basketball, mini golf, archery, volleyball (beach and pool), water polo, water aerobics, bingo, spanish lessons, dance lessons - and the list goes on and on and on.......... There is a daily activity board with what's going on that they can follow as well. There is a pitch and putt course, and it's just "OK", and no additional cost. I can't imagine it would be worth lugging your own clubs to MX for this, Lordy no! It's 4 holes and just one tee area, set in a fan shape. If you planned to golf elsewhere off the resort, then maybe. There is a 9 hole course in the town next to the Barcelo, Puerto Aventuras and that would be the closest place to play "real" golf. They do have clubs for you to use at the pitch and putt, not sure the quality but they have them. If anything, bring your own golf balls as for the mini golf and the pitch and putt, if you lose the ball they give you, you do have to pay $2.00 for it. Here is a picture of the pitch and putt (thanks Trekker!):

Thanks Shammy, I knew you would have any answer I mighht need on the Barcelo, but didn't want to bother you with the little stuff. Thanks for the photos. Gave me a good idea of what to expect. Not worth taking my clubs, but looks like it could be something to do early or late in the day. Since I have you here, if I want to plan a long weekend type trip for myself and two kids for early to mid June, how long do I have before I really firm it up and pay deposit? You have an idea of the issues I have working here.
Looks like I might get two trips to the Barcelo this summer. As for special activities for the teens, I kinda figured that would be the answer, but I had to ask. |
