I have to agree with Denise, Tulum is very easy to do on your own, I was there the same week as Verl and Jennifer (HI GUYS) and my friends and I took a taxi. I've gone on the tour in the past and found it to be a complete waste of $$ and time. A taxi is not much and you have all day to explore the beach.
