I do know that they have a new little beach area they are trying to call their own! What used to be our closest area of public beach right next to Xaman-Ha condos was purchased by Fishermens so their guests can be guaranteed some beach area I suppose! Its a few minutes walk further north than the Inn itself. There is some kind of palapa only Fishermens guests can get drinks and chairs too.

Is that what all that was for...Fishermens??? We used that beach everyday of our trip since it was close to our house...just figured all those things were for Xaman-Ha guests...who knew?

From what we were told three years ago, Fisherman's Sunset group has owned that property for a while. They told us at that time they were going to build another resort there similar to Fishermans. Who knows if that will ever happen. As for the beach near the water, I'm sure that's like everywhere else down there. It's public property, so anyone should be able to use the actual beach.

As for the repair/reconstruction. It is supppose to be done by the first of April. I'll be in Playa next week and will try to walk down there and check it out.

Our February'06 Visist

Our trip was very enjoyable. The most inconvenient factor was ( and I think remains to be) there is no alcohol available at the "Beach Club" - they offer agua, soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches - HOWEVER if you desire, in 15 minutes roundtrip walk, you are in town and can bring back whatever you want very economically.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

In my opinion the "Beach Club" works fine for me! Actually, we could catch the beach immediately next to FMV and walk it almost to the Beach Club. If we did not feel like we needed the amenities, the stretch offers beautiful beaches, snorkeling spots, etc. The staff was cordial and accommodating as usual. Having beach volleyball was a great bonus!

We had no pool to use, but that is not a problem for us. I do not know the status, but from what I saw the new one will be top notch, including a huge hot tub in the middle.

I will, in due time, post a link to some pictures. I feel you will enjoy your future plans at FMV.

Adios y que le vaya bien!

Bigskygirl,
Yep, we were in Playa. There are a few Fishermans threads out there and I posted some pics on a different one. Click here to view that thread. I think you will be really happy with what you find.

up and running

I visited Fishermen's Village in Mid-March 06. The South side/Ocean Front (where the spa is and around to the side by the studio units) was being repaired. Actually all the newer units, closest to the ocean sustained water damage and were being completely overhauled. They tore out the spas and are replacing the retaining wall. The pool was being finished and filled the day we left. I think everyone will appreciate the improvements on the pool. Where I call the baby pool, is now going to be a very large jacuzzi area. It also looked like a 'kiddie pool would be behind this jacuzzi area. They are working on the beach in front.... but there is no beach at this time. Although they opened a 'beach club' (about 10 min walk toward town) They have food/beverage there. Luiz is there doing his activities everyday.. not sure if that will change once the pool opens. Don't be afraid to stay or make your reservation. We have been going there for 5 years now... and are always happy. On a side note... Senior Frogs is no longer there. I heard they were going to reopen it somewhere in Playa... but i didn't see it. Hope this info helps....

Anything new with Fishermen's? I have a few weeks I can use and am wondering what the current status is?
Thanks!

I am an owner at Fishermans, however due to the hurricane I have not had the opportunity to stay there yet. My family and I are going in November. Do you have and pictures of the rooms? We hav a two bedroom suite and are very anxious to see what they look like now.
