Villa Amanecer bathrooms
OK - I've read the reviews here and Trip Advisor. A couple of posters on Trip Advisor noted that the bathrooms at Villa Amanecer had "saloon" style door with no top or bottom. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I'm seriously considering staying here, but this would lower it a few notches. Although my wife and I are close, a week of eating habaneros and beans probably means I'd like to shield the poor woman a bit... |

Thanks for the input!
Everything else seems great about the place so I guess I'll have to leave the executive decision up to the wife. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but it's just kind of strange that they wouldn't spring for a full size door. |

Hahahaha! I may have to bring one of those jumbo-sized boxes of matches with me. I plan to eat frijoles charros every chance I get. |

To get to our bathroom you went thru like a walk thru closet. So it wasn't like the person in the room could see your feet. We really liked the place and had reservations to stay this year untill they changed them for the condo thing. Our room also had great water preasure and lots of hot water.

Hubby and I are close, but I don't want to be that close! Leave a little something to mystery, ya know?. We solved the delicate situation by taking turns relaxing on the wonderful balcony when the other person had personal needs with which to attend. And to think that I used to be put-off by the bathroom door at the Iberostar Paraiso because it was slatted. At least it went from floor to ceiling. ![]() |

We call them our "Flintstone's" doors. Open 12 inches at the top and 12 at the bottom. And no it's not because we ran out of wood. This is the tropics. Humidity, especially in the bathrooms, is a problem (think mildew). The answer is ventilation. Some of our doors run top to bottom of the door frame but are louvered ("slatted") and some are the 3/4 door. Guests have told us they thought these type doors were cute, "very Caribbean" has been the phrase most often heard. It never bothered us when we lived in the hotel, but then again we are not known for our shy demeanor.
If you stay with us again don't hesitate to ask for a room with the larger slatted door if that is your preference. |

Thanks for that interesting explanation Toni and Cheri! Who would have thought of humidity as the reason behind that quaint feature of a room. My hubby and I have been through it all together. Hell, he was right there in the delivery room through both of my hard baby deliveries. After that, having a partial view of his feet while he's on the throne doesn't bother me (mostly) ...

Tony and Cheri, I like the idea of calling them Flintstone doors! It really wasn't a big deal at all, but I am a fairly private person. But in terms of ventilation... wouldn't it work just to leave a solid door open when one isn't in the bathroom? |

I also watched the birth of my 2 kids so I wouldn't be concerned with my wife in the bathroom....more worried about her having to deal with me!
I wrote to Villa Amanecer before I posted here and asked them about the bathrooms. Just received a reply tonight from Florencia that they replaced all the doors recently and each room in the hotel now has full size doors. Again, not a huge deal either way, but if we end up staying there, my poor wife's eyes won't water as much. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What an image! That's it. These are no longer "Flintstones" doors. These are forevermore "Banzoomba" doors!!! SarahB's drafting up our new ad campaign now: "Luna Blue...the only hotel in Playa featuring BANZOOMBA Baņos! Kick your boots underneath & toss your hat over the top. Come on in!" |
