Barcelo room help please!

we are looking into the Barcelo for our 1st trip there later this year. i can't resist the deals...can i have a suggestion as to book the Maya or Caribe side? also, which side is the "event" side and which building do i avoid?

i would like to book the new tropical/colonial sides, but on the specials, they were almost twice as much.

Do a search on the unofficial Barcelo site forum. http://www.unofficial-barcelo-maya.com/ This question gets discussed at great length and there are maps to orient you as to your preferences. If you want to be in the middle of things, go for Beach (Maya)side, building 3 or Caribe building 4. For quieter accommodations, Beach buildings 1 and 2. You will also find e-mail addresses to send your requests.

The older sides are the Caribe and Beach. Our fav rooms were Building #3 (Beach), ocean side (no view but close to the pools and beach), 3rd floor ( no stomping overhead).

IMO, we had the best placement to go anywhere in the resort, no too close to the Dance Club (Captain Morgan's), far enough away from the Theatre, and close to the beach.

If we went again, we'd request the same thing again.
