I was married at the Riu Palace in Playa last March. We had 30 people along with us and everything went smooth. We had the wedding at 5pm on the beach- which we thought was the best time as many people are back in their rooms and getting ready for dinner. That way, there were not too many people on the beach and there were not too many bystanders at the wedding. We chose not to have the reception at the resort and found a really great place in downtown playa for the reception. It was called Casa de la Agua. The owner was very accomodating - he reserved part of the restaurant for us and the food was incredible. Everyone loved it. The resort had a photographer who did a great job - make sure to purchase the DVD that the photographer creates. We are so happy that we purchased it. If you want more details about the process, places to go for nails, hair, etc...let me know.

Thank you for the response and the tips...I really appreciate it. I was going to make hair, nail, appts. at the spa there, Renovaspa...is that where you went? How was it when picking out your flowers and other items? Did they have what you wanted or did you have to settle for what they had to offer? We are having our reception at El Patio...did you go there? Is it nice? We were going to do the beach, but our wedding is at 4PM which I think it will still be too hot and too many people so we're using that little area on the grounds with the gazebo type thing. Did you have a rehearsal? Thank you so much in advance for your help!

When are you getting married? I'm happy to answer any questions as I can remember I had no idea what to expect when I went there for my wedding - I can send you some pictures of my flowers, etc, if you send me your email address. I did have my hair done at Renovaspa and they did a great job (you will be able to see if I send you pictures.) A couple of other people had their hair highlighted at Renova and were very disappointed. We chose not to have our nails done at Renova - we actually went to a cute little spa in Playa called Itzaspa. I treated the ladies in the wedding to a manicure and pedicure as a gift for being in the wedding. They really loved it. Everything went very smooth as far as picking out what you wanted. You make an appointment with the wedding planners when you arrive and then sit down with them for about 1 hour to pick everything out. It is hard to tell what you are getting as you pick it out from a book. However, they had a great selection of flowers and mine were beautiful. The pictures were amazing... they have a great photographer. (I didn't feel like I settled for anything). The only thing was they do not hold a "practice" session - so when it was time to get married, I had no idea what to expect. My mom was walking around wondering what to do...Also, when the pastor started speaking - it was in Spanish (which we were not told about) so everyone was kind of looking around at each other like what is going on??? It was funny. After a minute or so - they do have a translator up there, who will translate everything in English for you. As far as having the reception at El Patio - I have no idea. We did eat at El Patio a couple of times and everything was really good. We just chose to go downtown since people were eating at El Patio all week and we wanted a different experience for them. The gazebo is a very nice area to have a wedding - it is beautiful in the courtyard area. If you want you can send me your email address and I'd be happy to send you some pictures or I can copy our wedding video and send to you which will show you the whole experience (I'll need your address). It is a 20 minute video that the resort made. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks!

Thank you so much for all this information. I would love to see your pictures...my email address is ckennedy2000 [at] hotmail [dot] com. Was it a lot cheaper to go to the other little nail salon for the manicures? Thanks again for your help!

I'll send you some pictures this weekend - it was not cheaper to go to the nail place downtown - it was more expensive.
