Staying at the Playa Maya...any comments for me?

I have been to Playa del Carmen twice and stayed at IB Quetzal/Tucan, but this year am ready to stay in town! We are going to stay at Playa Maya. Any comments or tips about this hotel would be appreciated. Can't wait to go back!

Oh, you MUST do a search because there are MANY MANY posts about this fine hotel.

Please use the search function on the toolbar above and type in "Playa Maya". You'll be reading all night!

Or you can send me email. I happen to know a bit about Playa Maya. But yes you can find some posts on us here, too.

I really like the Playa Maya. Great place to stay! If you like fried calamari, the PM restaurant prepares it very nicely. YUM.

We stayed at the Riu Palace in July. Went back in August, stayed at Playa Maya, and loved it! We loved the Riu, too, but can't afford that kind of luxury all the time. I'd rather spend twice as much time in Playa and stay downtown. Restaurants are fantastic! Playa Maya is clean, almost new, great restaurant and drinks, nice beach, the best location in Playa, very secure, and very quiet. And you can always find Steve on Playainfo if he doesn't answer your e-mail right away! However, he's really good at getting right back to you--another of the perks of staying at Playa Maya!

JUST got home from Playa Maya.........no worries....book your stay. The hotel is clean, comfy, beach is beautiful, the food was fab and there is nothing like hearing the ocean as you fall asleep not to mention the beautiful sunrises. The coffee is on very early for the sunrise. Could have done without a few of the staff members but I didn't go there to visit them. For what they lacked, Albert and Jorge (sp?) made up for. Albert is by far the hardest working person there and seems to be happy being so.

We'll book again.

Calamari? I have eaten there numerous times and am a big squid fan. Had I noticed it on the menu I'm sure I would have tried it. Love the shrimp and the octopus (pulpo) tacos as well as the coconut shrimp.
Well either way, I'll find out first hand next February. Hope you're right, a new taste treat to try out :p

Another Playa Maya fan here; we will be staying here again in May for the third time within one year. We haven't ever gone back to the same place three times in a row before, but having stayed at the Playa Maya, we can't seem to get interested in staying elsewhere. The location is perfect for us, the people friendly and the service is great. Nice beach, good food and good drinks, room with a balcony looking out to the ocean, we sure couldn't ask for more.

I researched PDC hotels for months (well, off and on!) and faxed my deposit yesterday to the Playa Maya for our upcoming June trip. Now, if I can just get these ^%$#*& air rates to come down....

I just spent untold days of hell on a cruise ship so I could spend a few hours of bliss on the beach of Playa Maya.

Great hotel, great staff, great beach, great food, great drinks. You will not be disappointed with Playa Maya.

...And beds that are actually comfortable, a shower with water pressure and an AC unit that pumps out COLD air.
