Best Fries in Playa

This will probably only be of interest to locals and visitors with kids. But there is a new place in Playa (about a month old) called Fritos that has awesome fries! These are not the sad McDonald's imitation fries that you normally find in Playa. These are thicker, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. They also have good chicken fingers and other things I haven't tried like hot dogs, meatballs & chorizo.
Unfortunately, they don't open until 2pm (mas o menos), but are open til 10pm or so. Oh yeah, they are located on 10th Ave, between 8th & 10th Streets near Dr. Taco & Pizza Pazza.

Libby, looks like all the food group bases are covered in one long block! That Pizza Pazza and the one next to DJs usually get my business. Nice to have some french fries to go with it.

Ate there on our trip (for the kids).......not impressed.....don't see it lasting. The street vendors had better fries. They do have a pretty cool decor but need to expand the menu a bit.

We discovered this place our last night in Playa back in February. They were awesome. And owned by a very lovely couple. We were the only ones in the place at the time as they had only been opened for a day or so. Glad others have found the place and hope they do well.

I guess it depends on what kind of fries you like. The street vendor fries are the skinny, sort of soft kind. I like 'em okay doused with hot sauce, but otherwise, they're pretty tasteless. I guess Fritos' menu doesn't really cater to American fast food tastes, so I can see what you mean about expanding the menu. And yes, the decor is cool.

Hi Jimmy! That's exactly what we did recently -- pizza and fries. (Please tell Jan I say Hi.)

We had crisp fries from the vendor. What I meant by expanding the menu is.....when you order a chicken sandwich, it is just chicken fingers on bread. I was expecting a chicken breast. The chicken fingers are good. A chicken salad would be a nice addition and maybe pizza. I am guessing they are trying to keep it simple. They take a lot of pride in their place.

At Fritos, are the french fries processed or are they from real potatoes?

The couple is Bulgarian, cute and cuddly. Their "Bulldog" (Bulgarian hotdog) will be familiar to you if you've ever eaten an eastern bloc dog since they swear they are exact replicas.

The fries are indeed the best in Playa if you are looking for euro-style fries. If you are looking for American shoestring or crinkle-cut fries, you might not prefer these, but these are my favorites in town ( I'm in the mayo and catsup crowd.)

I'm usually a vinegar on fries person but they convinced me to try dipping them in this really amazing hot sauce. Hey James, any chance we can get them on the card??
