Yes, but the Kennedy's seem to have a special place in their hearts for drinking and driving. Ted, Joanie, and now Patrick. I am sure I have left out a few, and am sure there have been more that were swept under the rug.
I saw the Representative's speech yesterday, and it made me sick to my stomach. As a person in recovery, it pisses me off when someone uses their disease to try to win public sympathy, especially when they do so for political purposes. (Paraphrase) "Yes, I am a drunk and an addict, but I have never done these things while fighting for you, the public of Rhode Island. Please treat me differently than you would anyone else, because I have done so much for you, the public of Rhode Island. I blackout on sleeping pills and drive my car (what, who said I was in the Hawk and Dove doing shots?) around the streets of Washington D.C., but I have never done so, in Rhode Island. When I get out of rehab (for the 5th time), please vote for me, your son of Rhode Island." |

Oh, c'mon.... don't be so hard on poor Patrick.
While he was supposed to be sleeping, he was trying to vote on behalf of the citizens of Rhode Island. Kind of a good thing.... seeing as how half of our reps are probably sleeping while they're supposed to be voting!! Nerak One of the few registered Republicans in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ![]() |

I do question the media giving so much prominence to the Kennedy story on the day that the CIA director was likely forced to resign. In overall importance to the world which is the bigger story?I heard a recording of , what I suspect was a plant, calling Rush Limbaugh yesterday and Mr Limbaugh seemed to be having quite a difficult time differentiating his situation. These guys can afford the best treatment centers, it's too bad they don't use more of their power to try and get treatment centers for the other addicts that lack their privileged status.

A couple of weeks ago, our newspaper did an article about Ambien -- that people are using it more and more, possibly incorrectly -- and that these people are "sleepwalking" after taking it. Some people have been caught driving UI, some people are putting on weight because they are sleep-eating, etc.
Apparently the class-action lawsuits are already gearing up. I'm surprised young Patrick's handlers didn't test the waters for that somewhat plausible scenario first. |

I don't care what political party he's with, I'm glad he didn't kill anyone, I'm glad he's getting help, I hope it never happens again, pills suck, pills washed down with alcohol suck even worse |
