We got 10.9 at the bank yesterday, exchanging dollars for pesos. It's a little bit less at the cambios.

10.7 yesterday at cambios

I think there is a currency converter link on this site somewhere (trip planning, read more?) that connects to a site with the current rate.

I just got back from playa the other day and the best Canadian exchange I saw was 9.22 but I did purchased pesos in Vancouver at a money exchange store before I left and received 10.6! I can buy pesos cheaper in Canada than I can in Mexico?

10.6 for Canadian $!! that's awesome! Odd that you can get a better rate here than there, but awesome!

It is really ironic that I can get pesos in Canada for the Mexican US rate. Playa again on June 11th so went searching rates in Vancouver on Sunday. Robson Street was giving 10.6 pesos per $1 Can. also checked at Granville and Broadway and they are giving 10.5. Banks in Canada give a higher rate than the money exchange or banks in Mexico. Mexican Banking is, lets say unusual. If you tranfer large sums of funds the exchange rate is not favorable, banks here would give a better peso rate. I wonder why?

it is ironic. We have checked with our bank before, actually we used to get pesos here before we left, but with the $7.50 service charge to get the pesos, it was just more money than just using our (Interac) debit cards at the ATMs.... which is what we have done the past three trips to Mexico. And when we check the rate once we get back home, it has always been better than what the banks here are giving, or were giving if we checked before we left.
Anway...have fun in June!
