New Englanders: The ark is ready
Check in here, New England peeps. Are you making it? Get two of every animal and load up the ark. This is insane. I'm going insane. Wave after wave of torrential rain. All night. All day. Icy northeast gale wind. Woke this morning (and all night) to the sound of torrents in the gutters, pounding the metal shed. Weather pattern is STUCK and not moving. Haven't seen the sun or had temps out of the 40's for 4 or 5 days, no end in sight. Haven't seen this much rain in I don't know when. If this was winter, we'd have 4 or 5 feet of snow already, probably more. Had to dig a trench with the neighbors yesterday to create a river to the storm drains. Turned the furnace off and cleaned the fireplace for summer last weekend, maybe I jinxed us. Fireplace has been cranked last two nights and furnace is on now. Dear God: please make it stop... Thank you

Actually I was enjoying our glorious weather so much just last Tuesday that I slammed my car door into the top of my head in the Braintree Stop & Shop parking lot. At this point I'm ready to throw myself into the middle of Route 18 during rush hour. Hang in there, dude. Even though YOU are the one responsible for all of this by turning off your furnace and cleaning up your fireplace. (Can't turn off my heat until June 15th by law. Besides why take all the fun away from my tenants. Heat is included in the rent, and turning up the thermostat and opening the windows is waaay too much fun.) |

This is making me soo depressed! trying to find things for a 2y/o to do inside for days at a time, when all he wants to do is go outside really is not fun
! Though we did go to the Y pool yesterday and the library, but I want to be outside finishing the yard! I looked outside a little while ago and my street has turned into a river. Are we up to 6 days straight? |

We've been waiting for our backyard to get landscaped since last Fall when they put in the new septic system. Don'tcha know the guys came last week and sprayed the hydroseed the day before the rains came. The sun hasn't been out since, and the green stuff has all washed into the woods!!
Well, we'll have some very grassy woods this summer! I just hope we don't have to pay for this!! To make matters worse...we also have water in the basement because we're waiting for new siding and they've taken down some of the drain spouts. Oh, the joys of renovations! Please...please...let the sun come out. My students all have cabin fever and REALLY need to get outside!! (So do I!) ![]() |

Went to my crawl space midday to get something, now this NEVER gets wet - all my $hit floating in 4 inchs of water! Arrgh - no pumps to be had, jury rigged a wet dry vac with a swimming pool hose - bailing now, and pulling crap out of there still pouring outside - unreal..

Yikes.... I think I'll put on my hip waders and go check the basement. Usually it gets a bit damp but not flooded. One of the few good points of having a house built in 1818 that has a dirt cellar and stone foundation.
That and the excitement of never knowing if I'm gonna dig up a Pilgrim when I do gardening in an as-yet uncultivated area. |
